This past weekend was completely jammed pack.
Between community theater productions and water in the basement, I had to squeeze in Colleen’s birthday party.
Birthday parties are a bit new for us as we’ve never really lived around our family to be able to have one for the girls.
All Miss Colleen wanted was a dinosaur cake, but I started to feel the pressure and tension started to rise … I needed to stop stressing and thing of something positive.
To do so, I simply needed to take a deep breath and remind myself of the miracle we were celebrating.
For those that don’t know the story of Colleen’s birth, I share with you a picture that my husband quick snapped as the doctors were taking her APGAR scores…
At first glance it might not appear to be that far out of the ordinary until you look closely at the size of the doctors’ hands to little Colleen.
You see, Colleen decided to surprise us all and entered the world 12 weeks early. She weighed a mere 2 lbs. 4 oz. and had the odds stacked against her …
… but she was a fighter and has proven to be our little miracle. There is of course much more to the story, but I will save that for another day.
I am simply grateful to be celebrating five years with a girl who prefers dinosaurs to barbies, blue to pink, and green to purple …
yet loves to dress up in tutus and tights with striped socks and glitter belts …
My dearest Colleen,
Your dimples and giggles melt my heart and your fearlessness inspires me everyday.
Happy fifth birthday!
Love, Mom =>
